Designed by Fred Shepherd, Built by White Brothers; one of the best shipyards of the time; and launched in 1909. Owl is very much a classic yacht from Edwardian times. The many successive owners in her long life have done well to maintain her origins, especially on deck. Her ketch rig enables her to be sailed effectively with a small crew. She is moreover a sea kindly vessel that has crossed the Atlantic; very balanced and comfortable. While substantially authentic she is however no mere museum piece but a living being which can now be enjoyed by renting her in Port d’Andratx, Mallorca.

Unique sailing experience

Owl departs Port Andratx from her swinging mooring around 10am; guests are picked up from the meeting point with Owlet her classic wooden tender with an environmentally friendly electric outboard engine. Prior to departure, guests are served refreshments and your itinerary discussed as there are several options on how we tailor your day which include:

  • anchoring for swims in bays with pristine, crystal clear waters,
  • disembarking Owl to visit Dragonera island, a stunning natural reserve.
  • or guests may choose to continue sailing and circumnavigate the island, which offers wonderful views of the impressive tall cliffs on the north side.
  • north of Dragonera is the Serra de Tramuntana, a protected world heritage site with pristine waters, untouched lush vegetation which are viewed from aboard Owl.
  • additionally guests interested in the practical/technical aspects of sailing can also choose to be involved as guest crew when they desire. Under the supervision of Owl’s Captain, guests may take the helm to steer the boat which many find an exciting experience whether they have sailed before or its their first time.
