Sant Patrici is a nine-hectare estate just outside the town of Ferreries, in the centre of Menorca. The house was built in 1918 and has been renovated throughout, but the land around it never stopped working: gardens, orchards and vineyards, a dairy that makes Menorcan cheese and a small winery, all within the property. The main house dates from 1918 and was built for Fernando Vives Escudero, in a style closer to an Italian country villa than to the usual Menorcan farmhouse: symmetrical, formal, set at the centre of its own land. What makes it unusual as a rental is that the farm is still running. The dairy produces Menorcan cheese and the bodega presses wine, both on the estate, and both can be visited. Guests are staying on a working property rather than a restored version of one.
All eight bedrooms have a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, which is what lets the house take sixteen guests without anyone sharing. The common areas are lounges that open onto the gardens, with vinyl collections to work through, and the terrace is where the Menorcan breakfast is served. The pool is large, set on a wooden deck with a bar beside it and a solarium for the afternoon. Beyond it the nine hectares open out into gardens, vineyards and lawn, with more than 15,000 square metres of it landscaped. That scale is what makes the estate work for a group that wants room to spread out, and it is also why it is used for celebrations.
Ferreries is about two kilometres away: whitewashed streets, artisan shops and bakeries, and a Saturday market of local crafts and produce. The Barranc d’Algendar, the green gorge that runs south towards the sea, is close enough to walk or cycle, and the southern coves, Cala Galdana and Cala Mitjana among them, are roughly fifteen minutes by car. Ciutadella and the north coast are both within easy reach, which is the practical advantage of sitting in the centre of Menorca rather than on one coast.

Ferreries sits in the middle of Menorca, at around 140 metres of altitude, on the natural transition between the northern cliffs and the southern coves.
The town is small and walkable: whitewashed streets, artisan shops and bakeries, and a Saturday market of local crafts and produce. Ferreries has a long association with Menorcan cheese and pastries, which is part of the reason an estate like Sant Patrici ended up here.
The landscape around it changes quickly. The Barranc d’Algendar, a deep green gorge, runs south towards the coast and is one of the better walking and cycling routes on the island. Santa Àgueda, at 264 metres the third-highest hill in Menorca, is in the same municipality.
Both coasts are close from here. Cala Galdana and Cala Mitjana are the nearest of the southern coves, and the beaches of the north coast are a comparable drive in the opposite direction.
